conform to Christian Customs even though they are not Christianed, but many of the Concubines of English Men remain Mahommedans or Hindoos as they have been educated. The Slaves employ’d by the English, the Portugueze, and other Europeans, are usually call’d Portuguese, and consider’d as Christians though not often Christianed, but are call’d Christians meerly because they are made to eat all kinds of Meat, and to do such kind of business as neither Mussulmen nor Hindoos will do.
