the Golahs standing on the Five Cottahs of Ground, for which we hope to recover dammages in this Action, and the Houses standing there, and used the Materials for fewel to burn a Great Quantity of Timber which was also on the land or on land adjacent to this peice of Ground, so great a Quantity of Timber was burnt that the fire lasted Nine Days, and for the Destruction of this Timber there is another Action depending. The Plaintiff Defendants before these Golahs and Houses were destroy’d, desired five days time to remove the Grain in the Golahs, and to take away the materials of the Golahs and Houses, but Colonel Watson refused to give them time.
After the first Witness had been examined a short time, Impey directed that the rest of the Evidence should be written in Question and Answer. This is usually done in this Court in Causes of Consequence, and is much the clearest way of taking the Evidence.
