Understood I was going to Mr. Larkins, he expressed a wish that the contest between Him & Mr. Larkins were at an end. I remember no more of the conversation. I waited on Mr. Larkins, whom I found alone, & he recd me politely; but with apparent distrust. I told him my reason for waiting on him, and hinted at the expression, which to the best of my judgement, Mr. F. wished to be conveyed to Mr. Larkins. Mr. L. held up his hand, arose, & stopped me. I took my leave.
On 5th May last Mr. Fenwick again applied to me.
On the evening of the 5th May I recd a letter from Mr. Fenwick covering letter to Mr. Larkins, & a check on one of the banks for 500 Rs. (the letter (Exh. M.) is that wch I recd.
