Exht Z. (concern such information having been recd from Mr. Phayre through me is false. Read 22 July. The Exh. (T.1) I now look at: the signature & body are in Mr. Fenwick’s handwriting. Mr. Lamb has been at my house: I constantly disapproved Fenwick’s letters to Larkin. I never told Mr. Fenwick, or Mr. Lamb (whose evidence I heard yesterday) Mr. Lisle or any human being, that Mr. Larkins was a man of a bad character, or a bad man, nor ever used words of that import. The 31 March last was the 1st private interview I had with Mr. Larkins: I never had any conversation with Mr. Larkins since the 31 March until the day in this month, when I was called upon to deliver up the letters from Mr. Fenwick, to be produced in Court.
