Gunga Govind Sing and Jubarry.
This was an action of assault and Imprisonment. Gunga Govind Sing was Dewan of the Calcutta Committee of Revenue, and Jubarry was a Jemmatdar or Peon employ’d by Gunga Govind Sing.
Rada Cunt Gose had been imprison’d in Calcutta by order of Gunga Govind Sing, on whom the Calcutta Committee now attempt to throw all those Acts which are properly their own. A Writ of Habeas Corpus had been issued out for him, and he had been discharged by order of this Court on the 26th of August 1777 on Argument on the Return of that, at the Court of holden by adjournment from the House of Sir Elijah Impey, the Cheif Justice, to the House of Mr. Justice Lemaistre. This was the Court at which Mr. Uvedale was sworn in Clerk of the Crown. His appointment was last Term declared to be invalid, and Mr. William Johnson a dependant of my brother Chambers [ILL] of his because of his [ILL] to Sir Joshua Rennolds
