1778. Sessions. Tuesday June 16.

Present
Sir Robert Chambers
&
Mr. Justice Hyde.

[Triple Line]
Bhudjeram.
Indicted for Burglary in breaking and entering the House of Gowr Sunder Adicarry and Stealing many Gold and Silver Ornaments, and a Number of Charyarry Rupees. This means a sort of Rupees coin’d in the Reign of Shaw Jehan Shaw, which have his name on One Side, and the names of the four friends of Mahommed on the other, and from thence they take that name of Char=yarry.
This sort of Rupees is now very scarce and therefore though money can be hardly be known, there arrises strong probability that it is the same.
There is a square which is very conspicuous on one side of some of these Rupees, from which they might easily be known by such as could not read neither Persian nor any other Writing.
Verdict – Guilty.
