An Action of Trover and Conversion, for Seventeen Boats laden with Rice.
It was said in the Opening, that these boats in Feb 1777 being in the District of Dacca on the River laden with Rice, the Dandees or Boat-Men heard there were Muggs on the River, and the Dandees ran away from the Boat for Fear of the Muggs. They applied at Dacca for some Sepoys and four were sent. On their approach the Muggs ran away, and then the Boats and Rice being left without any Men on board, the Defendant Bugabund Roy was Zemindar of the Place where the boats were and therefore had seized the boats by Gunbee Sing his Servant the other Defendant. That one of the Plaintiffs demanded this Rice of the Defendants Bugabund Roy and he refused to return them. A Witness for the Plaintiffs
