Cormack & Little & sent them to the Hospital to search the place, where Delany was, to open his trunks, &, if they found suspicious articles to bring them to me: at the same time I wrote to one of the Surgeons, Mr. Pye desiring him to allow the search to be [ill] & [ill] At Delany be brought prisoner to the garrison if suspicious articles should be found on him. About an hour & an half after, Serjt Little returned to me in the garrison with a loaded pistol, which he said had been found in Delany’s room: the pistol now produced is, I believe, the same pistol. Little told me that Cormack was bringing Delany with his trunks & effects. When Delany was brought prisoner I ordered him to be stripped & examined. It was done accordingly in my presence.
