Phaker.
Phaker was Indicted for the Crime of Petty Treason in Murdering her husband by Poison.
Hawkins says One Witness at the Trial is sufficient, as in Murder: Foster says there must be two Witnesses as in Treason, at the Trial and on the Indictment.
The whole depending on a confession by the woman before Mr. Playdell, and in that she having said she gave the Powder to her husband to make him go Mad and leave the house that she might be left with another Man; my brother Chambers told the jury that the Evidence being intirely this confession they must take the whole togather as well what made in her favour as well as what made against her; that as she had said her intention was to make him that intention being criminal it
