When I was offered 5000 rupees by Crishna sercar in the presence of the 3 persons whom I have mentioned, he did not know whether they were friends or foes to Ram Chandra.
The service of Ram Chandra was a bad one: I was forced, after I left it, to abscond. When I first entered his Service, he did not tell me I should be employed in such business as this, or that I should keep his secrets. My first intention was to keep his secrets, when I entered into his service: after he employed me in the service of Gulam Ashref, I did intend to keep his secrets. I was brought hither, & put on my oath, &, therefore am obliged to declare the whole truth. On the day, when I was received a subpoena (the day before yesterday at dusk) I first resolved to speak the whole truth.
